David Wemmer, Component Project Leader

BSGC Role

David Wemmer is a Co-Principal Investigator who will oversee all aspects of the execution of the proposed work in application of NMR to protein screening and structure determination.

Component Project Information

The NMR component of the project will apply multinuclear, multidimensional solution methods to screen samples of expressed proteins for foldedness, aggregation state, presence of flexible tails or domains, and to determine structures of small proteins from the target organism, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, or their homologs from other orgamisms. Sets of experiments will be designed which are optimized for assignment of resonances from proteins at different effective molecular weights. Methods for automated analysis of data will be implemented and extended to increase throughput. Structures will be interpreted to classify fold, and to evaluate functional implications.
